National Craft Month - Win $1000 for Charity with Craftsy!

If you've been eyeing a class on Craftsy for awhile, now is the time to go for it!!
I'll tell you a bit more about the opportunity,
and then share a bag making class I am taking with you.

It's National Craft Month in the USA and not only is Craftsy offering discounts on classes, it's also giving a craft focused charity of your choice $1000.00. Anyone who purchases a Craftsy class in the first 2 weeks of March is entered to win the chance to give. I think it's wonderful that Craftsy is taking on charities and is supporting the gift of learning this way, so I'm taking this chance to share a class I am currently taking with Craftsy with you. Actually, I have always loved taking Craftsy classes, and I've been watching some painting & cooking ones, but I think most of my readers are total bag making addicts - so I've got an AWESOME one I'd like to share with you!

When people ask me what I do, I tell them that I am a Craftsy instructor, and a lot of them don't know what that is about - shocking ;-) - so if that is you, I'll just tell you about it briefly before I jump into the bag class.

What & Why:
Craftsy is an online learning platform where you can take classes from cooking, photography to gardening and cake decorating. 100's of classes!! When you purchase the class you get to watch your high definition videos from anywhere. You can watch them on the computer, iPad, apple TV or even your phone!  You can come back to the lessons as may times as you like and they will always be in your account. I think the best part about Craftsy is that if you are not happy, you can get a full refund so there really is no worry there. It's a great opportunity to learn something from the experts on your own time. I have been doing a bit of traveling lately, so I watch my painting classes in the hotel, or at my Mom's and then when I get home, I try to get started on my projects. Oh and the classes are interactive, so you can ask your instructor questions and share project photos!

A Class I think YOU would enjoy!

I've picked a favourite class that I am taking right now to share with you because I think it will really hit home with you as a sewist, quilter or bag maker. Annie's class is awesome!! Also, as I mentioned just above, I've been doing a bit of travel lately, so I think the 2 organizers Annie is teaching are great projects for me, or great gifts for a traveller. I can definitely see myself making one of these for my Mom or daughters.

In Annie Unrein's class, "Sew Sturdy: Travel Organizers", you will learn to make two large travel organizers that are quilted with Soft & Stable.  I use a lot of foam stabilizer in my bag projects, so I have a lot to spare and these are great projects to use up some of my large scraps!

Here is a description that Craftsy gives of the class, and after watching the first few lessons, I think it really describes it well enough that I don't need to try and describe it better:

"Learn the secrets to professional-quality bags as you sew two cute and functional organizers with pattern designer Annie Unrein! Learn how to choose the best batting for quilted components, select a stabilizer for bags with great body and find out how to sew vinyl and mesh with ease. Then, turn handles, install hardware and bind edges like a pro. Annie will also share insider tips for installing zippers around curves. You’ll even discover ways to work with zippers by the yard to save yourself money and time. Add polished finishing details and showcase the fruits of your labor — a soft storage binder for sewing supplies, toiletries and beyond, and a travel cosmetic organizer that will keep everything in its place."

If you click over to the class trailer video, you can also read student reviews. These are very helpful in deciding whether a class is for you or not. I've taken a screen shot of a few reviews, but when I give you the link below, I think you should read some for yourself!

I am so pleased that Craftsy has started promotions that give to charities.

I truly am enjoying this online Craftsy class with Annie Unrein! I've been using her products for years, and she really does know her stuff. Learn her unique techniques for creating handy bag organizers. Craftsy will give you a 100% refund if you don't enjoy the class, so you have nothing to lose.
